The Peter Principle Proving True

My mother's friend, Mikkey, is moving house.

While packing up, she found some beading projects she's decided she'll never get around to doing. In a great move of generosity she's passed them to me. The one she really hopes I'll do for her is a little peyote stitch amulet bag by designer, Ann (Paxton) Winebrenner. I've gotten quite comfortable with tubular peyote stitch now, so I thought I'd try this pretty project.

The kit came neatly packaged up in a small tube:

If it all fits into this little package, how complicated can it be, right? I emptied the tube to assess the contents, and....

.... "Holy s**t-pile of beads, Batman!" There were long tubes, short tubes, and itty bitty ziploc baggies of seed beads. And there were color charts mapping the design.

*gulps and repeats to herself:* "OK, I can do this, I can do this..." One baby bead at a time. I think this is going to be a long-haul enterprise, but I'll give it my best.

I'm all for trying something just beyond my current skill set, but this is a BIG reach. Thanks for the challenge, Mikkey! And safe travels...

That is a gorgeous project, but wow does it look hard! I hope we get to see during and (hopefully) finished shots, as well....

Beautiful, yes. "Little", NO! I not only hope we get to see during shots, I hope we get to see the end in our lifetime!
But...it does look very beautiful. Maybe those are lots of EXtra beads :).

good luck to mikkey with her move....i hope that her legs and feet don't throb like mine have this week! and how lucky for her to find that beading kit and pass it on to you (and then you get to pass the finished project back to her!). hey, wait a minute, what am i talking about...i was going through some boxes and found a "four-piece peyote stitch luggage set" kit! if i pass it on to you, is there a chance that it could be finished for my upcoming trip in july?! it's all packaged in a really small tube, just like your purse kit..... :))))

p.s. got such a big kick out of the comment you left on my blog....thanks for the smile, i needed it! happy beading!

Safe travels to Mikkey. Looks like she left you *a little amulet bag* that thinks very BIG! Mind boggling! And just think, when you are finished (see, I know you can do it), you'll have the pattern for another one! :D

Ummm...where would you even begin. That sure does look like a major challenge. But, from reading your past posts...I know you don't give up easily. Good luck!
